Could a Pre-Surgery sports drink cut complications?

NCT ID NCT06057532

Summary

This study is testing if drinking a special carbohydrate drink before a long urologic surgery helps control blood sugar levels and leads to better recovery. It will compare a specialized sports drink to a standard one in 30 adults having surgery lasting over 4 hours. Researchers will use a glucose monitor to track blood sugar during and after surgery to see if it reduces complications like infections.
