Experimental combo therapy for tough lymphoma shows promise but trial halted early
NCT ID NCT06381830
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tested a two-step treatment for patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. First, patients received a stem cell transplant using their own cells, followed by an infusion of CAR-T cells (a type of immune cell therapy). The goal was to see if this combination could improve response rates and delay disease progression. Only 8 patients were enrolled before the study was terminated, so the findings are limited.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CAR-T cell therapy and autologous stem cell transplant
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for patients with hard-to-treat B-cell lymphoma who have relapsed after standard therapy.
What could go wrong
This was a very small, early-phase trial that was terminated, so results are limited. The approach carries serious risks, including infection and organ damage from the conditioning chemotherapy.
