New immune cell therapy tested for Tough-to-Treat blood cancer

Summary
This is a first-in-human study to test the safety and find the right dose of a new type of CAR T-cell therapy for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has come back or not responded to other treatments. The therapy involves modifying a patient's own immune cells to target a protein called CD371 on the cancer cells. The study will enroll about 15 patients to see how much of the treatment they can safely receive.
