New hope for kids with deadly brain tumors: experimental therapy targets cancer directly in the brain

NCT ID NCT05768880

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new type of personalized immune cell therapy called SC-CAR4BRAIN for children and young adults with aggressive brain tumors that have come back or not responded to standard treatments. Doctors collect a patient's own immune cells, modify them in a lab to better recognize and attack four specific targets on the tumor, and then deliver these 'supercharged' cells directly into the fluid-filled spaces of the brain through a special catheter. The main goals are to see if this complex treatment can be made safely, determine the best dose, and check if it's feasible to give to patients.
