Scientists Re-Engineer Patient's own cells to hunt down leukemia

NCT ID NCT02159495

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new type of cellular therapy for adults with acute myeloid leukemia or a related blood cancer that has come back or not responded to standard treatments. Doctors collect a patient's or donor's immune cells, genetically modify them in a lab to better recognize and attack cancer cells, and then infuse them back into the patient. The main goals are to find a safe dose and see if this approach can help control these aggressive cancers.
