Promising drug cocktail targets tough childhood cancers
NCT ID NCT07175415
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This trial tests a combination of three drugs—capivasertib, venetoclax, and dexamethasone—in children and young adults with relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or lymphoblastic lymphoma (LBL). The study has two phases: first, to find the safest dose, and second, to see how well the treatment shrinks or eliminates cancer. It includes 42 participants whose tumors have specific genetic changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
capivasertib, venetoclax, and dexamethasone
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for children with hard-to-treat leukemia or lymphoma that has come back or not responded to standard therapy.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 42 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drug combination may cause side effects or fail to control the disease long-term.
