Prick of a finger could replace dreaded diabetes test
NCT ID NCT06815081
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple finger-prick test done at home can replace the standard oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) for diagnosing type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The standard test requires a vein drip and multiple blood draws over hours, which many people find uncomfortable. Researchers will enroll 90 children and young people to compare finger-prick results with standard lab tests, and also explore using a continuous glucose monitor as an alternative.
