First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study compares a new capillary-action catheter to the standard tool for collecting fluid from the small intestine during an upper endoscopy. The goal is to see if the new device can collect samples faster and with more volume, which could help diagnose conditions like SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). About 46 adults undergoing endoscopy will take part. The study does not involve any treatment, only sample collection.
