New approach aims to help young people with psychosis navigate cannabis use

This small pilot study tested a counseling program adapted for young adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis who also use cannabis. The program aimed to educate participants about lower-risk cannabis use, help them stay engaged in their mental health care, and take their prescribed medications. Researchers wanted to see if this approach was practical and acceptable to patients, with the goal of reducing potential harm from cannabis use in this vulnerable group.
