Scientists search for hidden clues to Cancer's devastating weight loss
NCT ID NCT03191955
Summary
This study aimed to better understand cachexia, a severe form of weight loss and muscle wasting that affects many cancer patients. Researchers collected tissue, blood, and urine samples from 282 cancer patients during surgery and compared them to samples from people without cancer. They also tracked patients' physical function and quality of life for up to a year to identify early warning signs and potential future treatment targets.
