Researchers probe why some surgeons skip lifesaving blood clot meds after cancer surgery

Summary
This study aims to understand how surgeons currently prevent dangerous blood clots in patients after major cancer surgery. It will survey and interview 500 surgeons and their teams across the U.S. to learn about their practices, identify barriers to following best-practice guidelines, and test if electronic health records can reliably track this information. The goal is to gather knowledge to improve future patient care, not to test a new treatment.
