Researchers question common painkiller for cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05088876

Summary

This study aims to find out if the common painkiller paracetamol (acetaminophen) is actually needed for people with chronic cancer pain who are already taking strong opioid medications. About 140 adult patients currently taking both medications will be randomly assigned to either continue their paracetamol or switch to a placebo pill for a week, followed by a week where everyone stops the extra pill. The main goal is to see if pain control is just as good without the paracetamol, which could simplify treatment and reduce side effects.
