Your walk may reveal if brain surgery will work

NCT ID NCT07323602

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether analyzing how people with dystonia walk before deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery can help predict how well the surgery will work. About 50 adults scheduled for DBS will wear small sensors while walking. Researchers will then compare their walking patterns to their symptom improvement and quality of life after surgery. The goal is to find simple, non-invasive clues that could guide treatment decisions.
