First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving oral vancomycin alongside other antibiotics can prevent Clostridioides difficile infection (C. diff) in older adults at high risk. About 200 participants aged 65+ who have recently been hospitalized or on antibiotics will be randomly assigned to receive either vancomycin or standard care. The goal is to see if this approach reduces new C. diff cases without increasing antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
