New hope to block Statin's sneaky side effect

NCT ID NCT06684106

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) can prevent a common side effect of cholesterol-lowering statins: rising blood sugar levels. Researchers will enroll 128 adults with high cholesterol who are starting statin therapy. Participants will take either UDCA or a placebo (a dummy pill) alongside their statin for six months to see if UDCA helps keep their blood sugar stable.
