First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a brief comment to lab reports for high cholesterol can encourage doctors to refer more patients to specialized lipid clinics. The goal is to find more people with familial hypercholesterolemia, an inherited condition that raises heart disease risk. About 2,000 adults with very high LDL cholesterol levels will be included, and the study will compare referral and diagnosis rates before and after the comment is added.
