NCT ID NCT06948708

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring heart rate patterns (heart rate variability) before surgery can help predict which women will experience nausea and vomiting after gallbladder removal. Researchers observed 110 female non-smokers undergoing planned laparoscopic cholecystectomy. They measured heart rate before and after surgery and tracked nausea for 24 hours. The goal was to see if heart rate variability could serve as a simple, non-invasive tool to identify those at higher risk.
