Eye-Opening scan may catch Parkinson's sooner
NCT ID NCT02488395
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether a brain scan (fMRI) can detect early Parkinson's disease by looking at a small area called the superior colliculus, which processes visual information. Researchers compared 23 newly diagnosed Parkinson's patients with healthy volunteers to see if brain activity differences could serve as an early marker. The goal is to develop a tool for earlier diagnosis, not to treat or cure the disease.
