First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a community program called CAN-DO that helps older adults reduce their risk of heart disease. Participants, aged 60 and older, attend weekly group sessions on nutrition and managing chronic conditions. The goal is to see if the program is practical and liked by seniors, and whether it improves diet, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
behavioral intervention: group education sessions on nutrition and cardiovascular risk reduction
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could offer a practical way to help older adults lower their heart disease risk through better nutrition and self-care.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The program may not lead to lasting health improvements.
