Zapping stomach tumors with calcium: a new way to stop bleeding?

NCT ID NCT07647731

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a procedure called calcium electroporation to stop bleeding from stomach cancer tumors. Doctors inject calcium into the tumor and use a special device to deliver small electrical pulses, which can help control bleeding. The trial will include 28 patients with advanced stomach cancer who have limited treatment options, and the goal is to see if the procedure safely reduces or stops bleeding.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

calcium gluconate

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a minimally invasive way to control tumor bleeding and improve quality of life for gastric cancer patients who cannot have surgery or strong treatments.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study (28 people) with no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The procedure may not stop bleeding or could cause side effects like pain or infection.
