New approach tested for rare Bone-Weakening disorder

NCT ID NCT03748966

Summary

This study is testing whether calcitriol (a form of vitamin D) given alone for one year can help people with X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH), a rare genetic disorder that causes weak bones and poor growth. The research involves 20 children and adults with XLH and will measure changes in their blood phosphate levels, bone health, and growth in children. Researchers want to see if this simpler treatment approach works without causing harmful kidney calcifications.
