Extra surgical step could stop debilitating arm weakness after neck surgery

NCT ID NCT03023696

Summary

This study aims to see if performing a small, additional procedure during neck decompression surgery can prevent a rare complication called C5 palsy. C5 palsy causes weakness in the shoulder and upper arm, sometimes with pain, which can significantly impact recovery and quality of life. The study will randomly assign patients to either receive or not receive this extra step to compare how often the complication occurs.
