Timing C-Sections to give newborns a better start

NCT ID NCT00446953

Summary

This study looked at whether scheduling planned C-sections at 38 weeks of pregnancy, after giving the mother steroid shots, could help prevent breathing problems in newborns. It also aimed to see if this timing could avoid emergency C-sections that happen if labor starts before the scheduled date. Researchers compared this approach to the standard practice of scheduling at 39 weeks without steroids.
