First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving the antibiotic vancomycin helps cancer patients with a mild form of C. difficile infection (where the germ is present but toxins are not detected). The trial planned to include 30 patients but only enrolled 9. Researchers measured changes in C. difficile levels, gut bacteria, and diarrhea over 90 days. The goal was to understand if treatment is needed, not to prove a cure.
