New CAR-T therapy shows promise for lymphoma patients who relapsed after prior treatment
NCT ID NCT04316624
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase trial tested a new cell therapy called C-CAR066 in 7 people with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma whose cancer had returned after CD19 CAR-T treatment. The therapy uses the patient's own immune cells, modified to target a different protein (CD20) on cancer cells. The main goals were to check safety and see if the treatment could shrink tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
C-CAR066 (a type of CAR-T cell therapy that targets CD20 on cancer cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma whose cancer returned after CD19 CAR-T therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small Phase 1 trial with only 7 participants, so results may not apply widely. CAR-T therapies can cause serious side effects like cytokine release syndrome.
