First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether buprenorphine, a painkiller, can work as well as standard opioids for older adults (65+) who come to the emergency room with a broken bone. Researchers want to see if it causes fewer side effects like nausea or confusion. About 48 participants will receive either buprenorphine or hydromorphone and report their pain and any side effects over 48 hours.
