New device aims to keep Life-Saving dialysis ports working longer

NCT ID NCT06639451

Summary

This study is testing a special balloon catheter coated with a drug (paclitaxel) to see if it can keep narrowed dialysis access points (arteriovenous fistulas) open and working better for longer. It involves 186 adults who need regular hemodialysis and have a specific type of narrowing in their access point. The main goal is to see if this treatment prevents the need for additional procedures to fix the access point within six months.
