Summary
This study aims to learn how different types of body fat, especially calorie-burning 'brown fat,' work in human metabolism. Researchers will collect small samples of fat and muscle tissue from adults already having planned surgery at the NIH. The goal is to gather basic knowledge that could one day help develop new treatments for obesity and related diseases like diabetes.
