Can your meal change your fat? new study investigates brown fat and food reward

NCT ID NCT06285461

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at how eating foods that are highly rewarding (like tasty treats) versus less rewarding foods affects brown fat—a type of fat that burns energy. Researchers will scan the brain and brown fat of 30 volunteers (some lean, some with obesity) to see how food cues and meals change metabolism and gut hormones. The goal is to understand the link between what we eat, our brain, and brown fat activity, which could help in future obesity treatments.
