New medical device aims to stop dangerous air leaks during lung exams
NCT ID NCT06310577
Summary
This study aimed to test a new 'leak-free' adapter for bronchoscopes, the camera devices doctors use to look inside patients' lungs. The goal was to see if this new adapter could reduce the amount of air that escapes from the breathing machine during the procedure, which can lower a patient's oxygen levels and spread potentially harmful particles in the operating room. Researchers planned to compare the new adapter to the standard one currently used, measuring oxygen levels and air loss in adult patients undergoing the procedure. The trial was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
