New study aims to decode lung test results and patient symptoms

NCT ID NCT07364188

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at 120 adults with asthma or COPD to see how different breathing tests relate to each other and to how much shortness of breath patients feel. Researchers will compare standard spirometry with a newer test called impulse oscillometry (IOS) and ask patients to rate their breathing. The goal is to better understand which test results matter most for symptom relief and to define what counts as a meaningful improvement.
