Psoriasis drug brodalumab under safety spotlight in large Real-World study
NCT ID NCT03254667
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is tracking 3500 adults with moderate-to-severe psoriasis to compare the long-term safety of brodalumab with other psoriasis treatments. Researchers are specifically looking at rates of cancer (excluding skin cancer) in people taking brodalumab versus those on other biologic drugs. Participants are already receiving treatment as part of their normal care, and the study simply observes their outcomes over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Brodalumab (a biologic drug that blocks IL-17 to reduce inflammation)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could provide real-world evidence on the long-term safety of brodalumab compared to other psoriasis treatments, helping doctors choose safer options for patients.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so results may be influenced by patient differences. It focuses on safety, not effectiveness, and may not prove brodalumab is safer than alternatives.
