New drug cocktail could give stroke patients a second chance hours after symptoms start

Summary
This study tests whether giving a clot-busting drug (rhPro-UK) before a procedure to remove a large blood clot from the brain can help people who had a stroke 4.5 to 24 hours earlier. About 820 adults with severe stroke symptoms will receive either the drug or a placebo, followed by the standard clot-removal procedure. The goal is to see if the drug improves blood flow and leads to better recovery at 90 days, while also checking for any increased risk of bleeding in the brain.
