Finding the best way to free patients from breathing machines
NCT ID NCT07238140
Summary
This study compared two different settings on breathing machines to see which one works better at helping patients breathe on their own after a serious lung problem. Doctors tested 50 adults with respiratory failure who were ready to try breathing without full machine support. They randomly assigned patients to use either a mode that automatically adjusts for the breathing tube or a mode that provides steady pressure support, then measured how well their lungs worked and if they could stay off the machine.
