New ICU breathing test could shorten ventilator time for critically ill

NCT ID NCT03861117

Summary

This study tested a specific method of breathing support to see if it helps critically ill adults who are struggling to come off a ventilator. It compared a combination of air pressure supports to a standard test to find which one helps patients breathe on their own successfully sooner. The goal was to reduce the total time patients need to be on the breathing machine.
