Breathing exercises aim to free patients from ventilators

NCT ID NCT07200037

Summary

This study is testing whether a special breathing exercise program can help patients who have been on a ventilator for a long time learn to breathe on their own again. It will involve 120 patients across several hospitals who are stable but struggling to wean off the machine. Researchers will measure if the training improves the strength of the main breathing muscle (the diaphragm) and increases the success rate of coming off the ventilator.
