Simple Pre-Surgery breathing exercises could slash complications

NCT ID NCT04558151

Summary

This study tested whether a simple breathing exercise routine before major abdominal surgery could help patients recover better. 134 patients were randomly assigned to either perform special breathing muscle training for two weeks before their operation or to receive standard care. The goal was to see if strengthening breathing muscles beforehand could reduce the number and severity of complications after surgery.
