Can a simple breathing exercise calm the fears of patients awaiting a new heart?

NCT ID NCT07381023

Summary

This study is testing if a guided breathing and relaxation technique can help reduce anxiety in adults who are in the intensive care unit (ICU) waiting for a heart transplant. About 60 participants will learn the technique, which uses a device or app to help them control their breathing, and report on their anxiety levels before and after. The goal is to see if this method can help patients feel more in control during a very stressful time.
