Zapping nerves to ease the gasp: a new hope for COPD breathing?
NCT ID NCT06985628
Summary
This small, early-stage study tested whether two types of gentle, non-invasive electrical nerve stimulation could help relieve severe shortness of breath in people with advanced COPD. Eight participants used devices that delivered mild stimulation to nerves in the neck or face during exercise tests, comparing them to fake (sham) devices. The main goal was to see if this kind of study was practical to run, not to prove the treatments work.
