First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study aims to see if a machine that analyzes chemicals in your breath can quickly tell if you have a respiratory infection, like COVID-19 or the flu. About 1,665 adults with symptoms and healthy volunteers will breathe into a special device. If successful, this could offer a fast, painless alternative to nasal swab tests.
