Could your breath reveal malnutrition? new test in development

NCT ID NCT06115148

Summary

This study is exploring whether breath analysis, specifically measuring ammonia levels, can help detect malnutrition earlier than current methods. Researchers will compare breath samples from people with and without malnutrition, and some participants will test how breath changes after short-term fasting or special drinks. The goal is to develop a simple, non-invasive screening tool that could identify nutritional problems before they become severe.
