Moms helping moms: can peer support boost breastfeeding for fragile preemies?

NCT ID NCT03156946

Summary

This study tested whether a support program could help mothers of premature babies breastfeed for longer. The program connected new mothers with trained volunteer mothers who had successfully breastfed their own premature babies. Researchers followed over 1,700 mother-baby pairs across Europe to see if this peer support improved breastfeeding rates, infant health, and the mothers' well-being.
