Can a Mom's diet while breastfeeding shape her Baby's future weight?

NCT ID NCT04633044

Summary

This study is testing if giving breastfeeding mothers a natural dietary supplement called betaine can help prevent babies from gaining weight too quickly in their first year, which is linked to a higher risk of obesity later in life. Researchers will give the supplement or a placebo to about 50 mothers for three months and track their babies' growth, body fat, and gut bacteria until age four. The goal is to see if this simple, early-life approach could be a new way to help prevent childhood obesity.
