New study: simple education may solve baby nipple refusal

NCT ID NCT07496307

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a one-week structured breastfeeding education program, supported by midwives, can improve sucking skills in infants who refuse the nipple, boost mothers' breastfeeding motivation, and strengthen mother-infant bonding. About 64 mothers with infants aged 1-6 months who have had nipple refusal for 3-30 days will take part. Half will receive the education plus online support for 15 days, while the other half gets standard care. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach helps families overcome a common breastfeeding challenge.
