Could many women safely skip breast cancer radiation?

NCT ID NCT02653755

Summary

This study is testing whether some women with early-stage, low-risk breast cancer can safely skip radiation treatment after having a lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery). Researchers are using a special tumor test called Prosigna to identify patients who have a very low risk of their cancer returning. The goal is to see if these selected patients can avoid the side effects and burden of radiation without increasing their risk of recurrence.
