Heart drug trial offers new hope for slowing advanced breast cancer

NCT ID NCT02958852

Summary

This study tested if adding atorvastatin, a common cholesterol-lowering drug, to standard hormone therapy could better control advanced breast cancer. It involved 126 women with hormone-sensitive, advanced breast cancer to see if the combination delayed cancer growth longer than hormone therapy alone. The trial also aimed to understand why some cancers stop responding to hormone treatments.
