New scan could tell doctors faster if breast cancer chemo is working

NCT ID NCT02834494

Summary

This study tested whether a special 3D ultrasound scan, called Shear Wave Elastography, could accurately predict how well chemotherapy was shrinking tumors in patients with locally advanced breast cancer before their surgery. Researchers followed 140 patients, measuring changes in tumor stiffness and size at several points during their chemotherapy treatment. The goal was to see if this scan could provide an early and reliable sign of treatment success, potentially helping doctors adjust care sooner.
