Blood test could personalize chemo for tough breast cancers

NCT ID NCT01349842

Summary

This study tested whether using a blood test to track cancer cells could help doctors choose more effective chemotherapy for women with advanced breast cancer that has spread. It involved 265 women whose cancer had worsened after two prior rounds of chemotherapy. Researchers compared treatment decisions guided by this blood test against the standard method of using scans and symptoms to see if it improved survival and quality of life.
