Heat treatment during breast surgery aims to reduce repeat operations

NCT ID NCT01153035

Summary

This study is testing whether adding heat treatment right after breast cancer tumor removal can help prevent the cancer from coming back. Researchers are applying radiofrequency energy to the surgical area immediately after tumor removal in women over 50 with early-stage breast cancer. The goal is to reduce the need for repeat surgeries and lower the chance of cancer returning in the same breast over five years of follow-up.
