Could a simple shave improve breast cancer surgery?

NCT ID NCT07244588

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether taking a thin layer of tissue from around the removed tumor (cavity shaving) is a safe and effective way to ensure all cancer is removed during breast-conserving surgery. It compares this method to the standard frozen section analysis. The goal is to see if cavity shaving can reduce the need for repeat surgeries and lower costs. Thirty women with early-stage breast cancer will take part.
